2009 and now it is your opportunity to participate!
RoverWay which will be held in Iceland in 2009 will be hosted by the Icelandic Boy and Girl Scout Association (Bandalag islenskra skata) and they will plan it and operate under guidance from WOSM and WAGGGS Europe.
RoverWay 2009 will start in Reykjavík with opening ceremony in the morning of July 20th and concludes at Ulfljotsvatn Scout Center in the the morning on July 28th. Arrival day is on July 19th.
Whereas
World Moot is an world event,
RoverWay is seen as an opportunity for young Scouts and Guides from all over Europe to get together and it aims at promoting a deeper knowledge among young Scouts and Guides about different cultures and traditions. And even though this is an European Event, Roverway is open for scouts and guides from all over the world.

Who, where, when, why Who: Rovers, Rangers, Scouts and Guides, Ventures, Explorers mostly from Europe but open for all Scouts and Guides from around the world of the age of 16 and 22 years in 2009 (born 1987 - 1993). Where: In Iceland. Starting in the capital city Reykjavik, then working out of several base camps distributed all over Iceland and finally spending 4 days at a camp at Ulfljotsvatn Scout Centre. When: July 20th-28th 2009. (arrival date: July 19th)
Why Iceland: How many of your friends or neighbours have ever been to Iceland? Probably not many. It is really a unique country which is worth visiting. Not only is its nature unique, but the culture and atmosphere is something you must realise. And why not use the opportunity when your favourite movement is having an event exactly for your age level in this unique place - this is your once in a life time opportunity - use it - Open up and head up north! We are not promising sunshine all the time (but it could be) and we do not offer beaches where you can get suntan. But it is not either as cold as the name of the country implies - but you must bring warm cloths along. It could rain, probably not snow :-) and it can be windy. But you will survive and have an experience of your life time - and be the one who had been to Iceland! |
